When we started Attica eighteen years ago, as the first contemporary furniture store in Atlantic Canada, almost all of the wooden furniture that we showcased was light in tone, primarily natural maple. Later, we saw dark, espresso wood tones become the standard, which stayed in trend for many years. Now, there is a movement to seeing more wood grain, as evidenced in the rise of natural walnut pieces.

At market this year we were quite excited to see the new Ophelia collection, made in Canada. Clean, sleek and contemporary, the Ophelia bedroom collection features matte white oak accented with steel legs and optional lacquer accents. 

Will there be a large trend towards this light finish? Perhaps not; this tonality is for the client with more modern design sensibilities. We're quite excited to feature it as for years many of our bedroom furniture manufacturers did not even offer a light natural tones in wood, and we feel that we're able to get back to our roots in being able to showcase these finishes.

Royal Doulton and Chef Gordon Ramsay have joined forces once again with a striking new collection of tableware, influenced by the East London warehouse style of Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen restaurant.

The Royal Doulton designers worked closely with Gordon Ramsay's team drawing inspiration from the contemporary dining style at Bread Street Kitchen, to create a fresh and modern collection of tableware reflecting the sophisticated yet simple, good, honest dishes served in the restaurant.

The result is a modern design that lends itself to the casual dining style for which Bread Street Kitchen is loved and works perfectly in a relaxed, social home environment. The tableware is perfectly proportioned for every meal. The serving pieces in the collection are intended for both individual portion sizes, as you would be served in the restaurant itself, or to share, centre table. This is made even easier with the addition of the metal plate riser which allows for more table space and has been created to work with various elements of the Bread Street Kitchen range; capable of holding the charger, dinner plate or 23cm bowl.

The range consists of a neutral slate and white colour palette, adding interest by using different finishes, mixing satin and high gloss and contrasting edge lines to create a striking and smart look.

Gordon Ramsay Bread Street Kitchen by Royal Doulton is the ideal range for any cook as every item is carefully considered for both cooking and dining, with specially designed elements to make an easy transition from kitchen to table. The casserole dishes have side handles for carrying to the table and 'pips' under the lid to evenly distribute the steam, continually basting the food while it cooks. All sizes of serving ware are designed to sit on the wooden serving board so meals can be taken straight from oven to table and presented to waiting diners.

EQ3 has designed a brand new collection for the bedroom. The Harvest Bedroom Collection is inspired by Canadian cabin country and features solid oak and oak veneer construction.
