Here's a few words from G.Romano's manifesto: "We believe in classic forms and elegant lines. We feel that affordable, well-designed furniture can still be made in North America. We think you'll see the difference." We most certainly agree!

making an entrance

There's nothing like making a great first impression, and our inspired console tables will help you to do just that in your entrance.Your foyer will in some cases be the only room of your home a visitor will see, and for others it's setting up expectations for the rest of the home. Here's just some of the consoles that we have available for wonderful beginnings:

This Reach Out of the Box handcrafted contemporary console has a black granite base and top supported by an iron frame with a statuesque figure inside. Console measures 40.5"W x 12"D x 35"T.

Hand-rubbed Zebra veneer, the Zig Zag console adds interesting architecture to your space. Size: 59"L x 15.75"W x 34"H.

When you don't have a lot of space, the slim profile of the Open Block Console is just the perfect piece, with measurements of 43"W x 37"H x 8" Deep.

For an organic, eco-statement, we have a selection of solid teak wood consoles available. Each is one of a kind, and so the measurements and form vary.

If consistency is important, but you still want the organic feel, this console is made from cast resin. Also available in bronze and a gold/wood finish.

Pure elegance. From the Deco-inspired saber legs to the beautifully curvaceous brass stretchers to the buttery soft parchment top. The Antoine console measures 64" W x 16" D x 30" H.

The Gonzo console is from a beautiful collection of sustainable furniture that is hand-crafted from exotic demolition hardwoods as well as white oak and black walnut. The juxtaposition of patinas with rough and refined wood lend the furniture a sense of history without ever seeming outdated. 70"W x 18"D x 28"H.

the silk collection

Sweet dreams are in store for you with the new contemporary, Canadian designed and made Silk collection. The bed base repeats the lines of the night tables, giving a sense of balance to the collection.

The bed is available with Italian slats or a wooden platform on which a mattress can be used without a box-spring. Equipped with invisible self-closing slides, the drawers close efficiently. Their interior, specially treated and stained to match the exterior, protects the most delicate articles of clothing.

The Silk collection is manufactured in birch veneer. Shown here in Smoke, it's available in a variety of colours.

attica double gold winner in "best of halifax" survey

Every year Halifax's weekly independent weekly newspaper, The Coast Magazine, holds a survey where readers get to vote on a wide range of topics under the major headings of Public Life, Shopping, Bar Scene and Arts and Media. This year, under the categories of Best Furniture Store and Best Home Decor Store, Attica took gold in both! We're thrilled to once again win these awards; local support means much more to us than acclaim from any national publications.

Here's what The Coast had to say about our win this year for Best Furniture Store: "Wouldn’t Attica be a great place to live? You’d have a dining room so cool that you’d be dying to host a dinner party, bathroom accessories so awesome you’d spent extra time primping yourself every morning, a home office that’d inspire you and a bedroom so sexy you’d be dying to…well, sleep. Attica’s style reigns supreme in the BOH poll, their futuristic furniture, major mood lighting and high fashion decor stylishly beat out the competition yet again."
This is what they had to say about our win as Best Home Decor Store: "Attica had its 17th birthday this summer, and Coast readers celebrated by awarding the store gold in this new category. Getting up there in years might make some sluggish, but it just gives the great people at Attica more energy---they are still going strong, bringing you the clean lines of the best modern home accessories that local and international artists have to offer. It’s “where dreams come true,” says one voter---a statement that’s hard to argue with considering Attica’s now offering fancy Vi-Spring luxury mattresses, so technically, it’s not just where dreams come true, but where you can buy them, too".

While we have been winning our local acclaim as the best furniture store in Halifax ever since the category was created, we certainly never take it for granted. And what it makes it even better for us is to see that we were preferred over national brands. Increasingly Haligonians are recognizing the importance to our economy with supporting locally-owned and independent businesses. When we buy local, we all win.

new attica/vi-spring tv commercial

Being a local, independently owned retailer, it's not too often that we invest in producing and airing our own television commercial. It would have to be something extra special that we would want to tell you about...something like sumptuous, handcrafted, natural mattresses by Vi-Spring.

See our new Vi-Spring television commercial here - and then come visit us and try them in person:
